The Inspiration
“Roman Catholic Motivational Speaker”
My first time winning in a speech competition was my Junior year of High School. I delivered a speech on leadership inspired by St. Teresa of Calcutta which was well received by the audience and ended up placing.
After graduating High School I wanted to go into Seminary to become a Catholic Priest, but was asked to get my associates before I could apply.
In the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to record some of the speeches I had competed with as a way to document them and practice. I decided to start with the speech I wrote on St. Teresa. I went to my backyard, put my
phone on a tripod, and hit record:
”Hello Youtube, my name is Estevan Covarrubias, I am a Roman Catholic Motivational Speaker here to set the world on fire for Christ. Hope you enjoy!”
This is how Seeking Sainthood started.
“The High School Swim Team”
In High School, Running was one of my favorite things to do. My freshman mile was 4:42 and I broke 10 minutes in my two-mile as a Sophomore.
However, I ended up getting an injury that led me to decide to leave the team.
I then joined the swim team to keep in shape. I figured since I was a good enough athlete, swimming would come easy, but I could not be more wrong.
It was there that I met a kid on the team, who became my bus-mate. We would talk on the way to practice. He’d talk to me about art and I would talk to him about God.
After graduating, I received an email from his mother that her son had passed away. I had never his mom before. I didn’t even think she knew who I was.
However, every time her son would come home from swim practice, he would talk to her about the conversations we would have on the bus about God.
This inspired Seeking Sainthood to continue.
